Introduction

Welcome to BookieKids! These Terms of Service ('Terms') govern your access to and use of the BookieKids platform, including our website and mobile applications. By accessing or using BookieKids, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using BookieKids, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using BookieKids on behalf of a child, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and have the authority to agree to these Terms on their behalf.

Description of Service

BookieKids is a digital platform that provides:

• Access to a library of illustrated children's books in multiple languages
• Educational content designed to help children develop reading skills
• Parental controls and supervision tools
• A safe, ad-free environment for children to explore stories

Made for Children and Families

Bookie's audience on Google Play is set to children and families, and we build to the Google Play Families policy. That commitment is part of these Terms and not only a store setting: the app asks for no microphone, camera, contacts or precise location, reads no advertising identifier, shows a child no interest-based advertising, and uses no third-party component that is not cleared for a service made for children. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what the app collects about a reader, and exactly what a grown-up is asked to agree to before a reader is created.

User Accounts

To access certain features of BookieKids, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Be responsible for all activities that occur under your account
• Not share your account with others or create multiple accounts

Acceptable Use

You agree to use BookieKids only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

Prohibited Activities

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the service
• Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the service
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Use the service for any commercial purpose without our permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service

Intellectual Property

All content on BookieKids, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, audio clips, and software, is the property of BookieKids or its content licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use BookieKids for personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not permit you to download (except for temporary caching), modify, distribute, or create derivative works from our content.

You may not reproduce, sell, resell, or exploit any portion of BookieKids content without our express written permission.

Parental Responsibility

BookieKids is designed for use by children under parental supervision. Parents and guardians are responsible for:

• Monitoring their children's use of the platform
• Ensuring children use the service appropriately
• Managing account settings and privacy preferences
• Deciding which content is appropriate for their children

Content and Content Rating

Bookie carries a content rating in each app store, given by the rating authority for your region from a questionnaire we complete about what is actually in the app, and it is rated as suitable for all ages. That rating rests on how the library is made:

• Every story is proof-read by a person and approved page by page before it is published. Nothing reaches a child's shelf unread.
• A page a reviewer rejects is not published, and the story stays off the shelf until that page is redrawn, rewritten or removed.
• Stories are drafted with the help of AI and then edited and approved by our staff. The words and pictures are our responsibility, not a machine's.
• There is no user-generated content. Nobody using Bookie can publish, upload, comment or send a message, so nothing another user wrote can ever appear on a shelf.
• There is no chat, no link out to the open web from inside a story, and no way for one reader to reach another.

If you find something in a story you do not think belongs in a book for children, write to support@bookiekids.com with the story's title. We take it off the shelf while we look at it. If we agree with you it stays off, and if the rating was wrong we correct the declaration in the store.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to BookieKids at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms. You may also terminate your account at any time through your profile settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease, and we may delete your account data.

Disclaimer of Warranties

BookieKids is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We make no warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or quality of any content on the platform.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookieKids and its affiliates, officers, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of or inability to use the service.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website and updating the 'Last Updated' date. Your continued use of BookieKids after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which BookieKids operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of BookieKids shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
